It has been three years since Japan Rail has opened the doors of the 2k540 Aki-Oka Artisan gallery which occupies the space underneath the Yamanote line between Akihabara and Okachimachi. To celebrate the occasion we have released a limited edition run of 2k540 Anniversary Fortune Uamou which will be available until the 14th of october at our Atelier Shop.
Ever since 2k540 Aki-Oka Artisan opened its doors it has been a trendsetting place where different craftsman display their high quality skills in shops and galleries. Besides shopping, 2k540’s public space features regular workshops which allow visitors to experience making different things themselves under the guidance of respected craftsmen.

■ 「2k540」とは
鉄道用語では東京駅を起点とした距離「キロ程」で場所を示します。当該施設は2k540m付近にあるため「2k540」とし、呼びやすく親しみやすいように、読み方を「ニーケーゴーヨンマル」としています。
■ 「AKI-OKA」とは
秋葉原駅（AKIHABARA）と御徒町駅（OKACHIMACHI）の中間に位置していることと、秋葉原－御徒町駅間の高架下に人の流れをつくりたいという思いを込めて私たちが作り上げた造語です。
■ 「ARTISAN」とは
フランス語で「職人」を意味しています。
■ 「工房とショップがひとつに」
クリエイターと直接話ができるフェイストゥーフェイスの店。自分だけのオリジナル商品をつくることができ、つくる側もお客様の顔がみえることで、モチベーションが高まり、トレンドをつかみやすくなります。
■ 「少量生産のこだわり」
流行に敏感な若い職人やデザイナーによって作られた少量生産のこだわりの商品。
一つひとつ丹念に作られる商品は、大量生産の製品にはないぬくもりと、新しいデザインに溢れています。
