“RETURN TO GALAXY” AT PARADISE TOY

“Return to Galaxy” exhibition by Takagi Ayako and Takagi Minoru.

Hosted at the Paradise Toy Gallery in Taipei, “Return to Galaxy” will exhibit the combined works of  father and daughter. Continuing the theme of the previously released “Guide to Galaxy”, Ayako takagi has created a body of works consisting out of painted works and customised figures that will accompany more than hundred masked Uamou that are hand-made by Minoru Takagi. On the second day of the exhibition there will be a live-painting event Ayako Takagi, accompanied by a live demonstration of how Minoru Takagi makes his masks.

Minoru Takagi (Papamou) is a jewellery artisan and besides assembling all of our bag straps, keychains and even setting the eyes of every single Uamou soft vinyl character, he has also made a collection of Uamou jewellery consisting out of diamond and zircon set silver brooches, necklaces and rings. His trademark Uamou masks are carefully handmade and hammered in to shape. Each mask features a different design and is either set with stones, decorated with hand chiselled patterns, treated with fire to give the copper different color hues or it features a combination of these techniques. This makes each mask a truly unique piece and have become very popular and sought after among our fans.

We have come back to guide you on your return to galaxy,
In search of unknown worlds wrapped in pitch-black darkness,

Be brave, be bold, there is no need to feel fear upon your return amidst the bright stars,
Bear witness to our journeys beyond time and space that have been engraved into our masks.

Minoru Takagi has a vivid imagination and he considers his creations as children of the universe. His designs often feature star maps and celestial bodies and in his own words he describes the MASK UAMOU as guides of the galaxy, helping lost souls back on their true path. The GALAXY REAL UAMOU have a bit more of an intricate description, their appearance is a mere afterimage that stood witness to the unimaginable brightness and brevity of the Big Bang expansion.

台湾『RETURN TO GALAXY』高木綾子 高木実 展

 

本展では、展示会のタイトルである『RETURN TO GALAXY』をテーマに制作したUAMOUの平面と立体作品を発表いたします。また、高木綾子の父、高木実（パパモウ）による1点もののマスク作品も多数展示販売いたします。会場では4月9日(土)に高木綾子によるライブドローイングとパパモウによるマスクの彫りの実演を予定しております。高木綾子とパパモウが作り出すUAMOUの世界を、是非この機会にご覧下さい。皆様のお越しを心よりお待ちしております。

石留め職人の高木実（パパモウ）は、UAMOUジュエリーラインの制作など多くのUAMOU作品の制作に携わっています。今回の展示会ではさらに進化したマスク作品を発表。タガネによる彫りが角度によって美しく光るマスクは１点１点銅板を叩いて制作されています。薬品による色の変化もお楽しみください。小さな小さなマスクの中に壮大な宇宙が広がっています。

調査隊員たちが帰ってきた。
漆黒の闇に包まれた未知なる世界の探索。
勇猛果敢な彼らとて、恐怖を感じないわけではなかった。
それでも、仲間と自分を信じ、探索の使命を遂行し帰還した彼ら。
時空を超えた記録と記憶が、彼らのマスクに刻まれている。
