Tomorrow is the opening of the 18th edition of “DOMANI – Tomorrow Exhibition” At the National Art Center, Tokyo in Roppongi!
Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of works by many young and upcoming Japanese artists who, with the help of the Agency of Cultural Affairs, were able to do collaborations abroad. The program to train up-and-coming artists overseas was started back in 1967 and the results of these collaborations have been consistently been exposed to the public at the “Domani – Tomorrow Exhibition” since 1998.
Since the recent developments in information technology we have seen a major change in material development which allows for new forms of expression within the arts. The 18th edition of the “Domani – Tomorrow Exhibition” focuses mainly on works that have been created in the past decade with an emphasis on the relationship between expression and materials. New techniques have been used to create Sculptures, prints, textiles, animation and video works, mosaics and painted works spread across the entirety of the exhibition space. In addition, visitors can enjoy a selection of 12 installations and admire the the progress made by trainees in the preservation and restoration field.
Connected to the exhibition there is a Special Shop Space featuring products from a variety of young artists and designers and we are very honoured to have a selection of Uamou goods made available as well.

国立新美術館にて明日から開催の『DOMANI・明日展』特設ミュージアムショップにてUAMOU販売！
文化庁の支援で海外研修を受けた若手芸術家たちが、「表現と素材 物質と行為と情報の交差」をテーマに作品を発表する。文化庁は芸術家育成のため、1967年より若手芸術家らが海外の大学や芸術関係機関等で行う研修を支援する「新進芸術家海外研修制度」を採用している。「DOMANI・明日展」は、その研修の成果発表の場として、1998年に始まったものだ。
第18回を迎える今回は、2000年以降の海外研修経験者のなかから特に表現と素材の関係が際立つ作家を中心に選出。社会の情報化とテクノロジーの発達により、物質、行為、情報などあらゆるものがアートの素材となった今だからこそできる、多様な素材使い。国立新美術館の豊かな空間を生かした絵画、彫刻、版画、染織、モザイク、アニメーション、映像、インスタレーションといった多彩な12の展示に加え、保存・修復分野における研修生の成果も紹介。さらに、美術を支える分野への理解を深める展示も行われる。
