You might have heard of YKK fasteners, the YKK Group is a Japanese group of Manufacturing companies and is most famous for making zippers. Chances are the zippers in the clothing you are wearing right now have the YKK logo on them.
One of their offices is located close to Studio Uamou and features an open workspace (called monozukurikan). Here you can attend many workshops where you can make your own bags, accessories and crafts. It goes without saying that the monozukurikan workspace will be attending the upcoming MONOMACHI CITY WALK as well.
The MONOMACHI CITY WALK is a three-day festival celebrating Taito-Ku’s artisans and master craftsmen. During the event you can visit the YKK monozukurikan to make your own zipper pouch and zipper key holders. YKK has asked us to make a series of custom ball chained mini boo so that visitors can decorate and customise their creations.
Making your own things is a lot of fun and a key principle in Japanese culture. Join the fun by downloading an english map for MONOMACHI 2014 or you can pick up a guide and a map at our store or any other participating venue in Taito-Ku.
